  • Car sized passenger capsules travel in 1.5m (5') diameter tubes on frictionless maglev. Air is permanently removed from the two-way tubes that are built along a travel route. Airlocks at stations allow transfer of capsules without admitting air. Linear electric motors accelerate the capsules, which then coast through the vacuum for the remainder of the trip using no additional power.
  • ET3 uses standard off-the-shelf vacuum pumps to permanently remove air from the tubes. Most of the time the pumps will be turned off, unless to run for a while to remove any air that leaks in. Pumps running too often indicate that a leak needs to be repaired. Leak repair can occur from outside the tube without shutting down the system.
  • ET3 is NOT like pneumatic tube systems that rely on air movement and pressure differences to propel the capsules, the capsules are magnetically levitated, and propelled by linear electric motors.

Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) is a group of approximately 100 engineers located across the United States who collaborate by crowdsourcing through weekly teleconferences. Rather than being paid directly, members work in exchange for stock options. The company is exploring routes other than the Los Angeles to San Francisco route that was the baseline in the Hyperloop alpha design. They are projecting the completion of a technical feasibility study in 2015, but have said that they are at least ten years away from a commercially operating Hyperloop.

The Hyperloop is a conceptual American high-speed transportation system put forward by entrepreneur Elon Musk, incorporating reduced-pressure tubes in which pressurized capsules ride on an air cushion driven by linear induction motors and air compressors.
As of 2015, designs for test tracks and capsules are being developed, with construction of a full-scale prototype scheduled for 2016.

At Hyperloop we build incredible pieces of advanced machinery. We are inventing the technology of the future of transportation and to make sure we get it right we have developed unique testing capabilities.
Whether it is state of the art wind tunnels, levitation rigs or electromagnetic test stands our world-class engineering team has built them in record time. We're building the 5th mode of transportation - right here, right now.
