ICTF-14 International Conference on Thin Films and Reactive Sputter Deposition ICTF-14 International Conference on Thin Films and Reactive Sputter Deposition

Nov. 17-20, 2008 - Ghent, Belgium

The International Conference on Thin Films is by far the most complete event for bringing together the scientific and technological community active in the field of coatings and thin films. It is one of the tri-annual conference series endorsed and co-organised by the Thin Film Division of the International Union for Vacuum Science, Technique and Applications “IUVSTA”. This union represent nearly 15000 physicists, chemists, material scientists, engineers and technologists from all over the world, all linked together through their common use of vacuum. The very origin of the IUVSTA goes back to 1958 in Namur, Belgium, and the 14th edition of the Thin Film Conference (ICTF14) brings IUVSTA back to Belgium in celebration of its 50th anniversary.

ICTF14 will take place from 17th to 20th November 2008, and has its venue in Ghent. It will be combined with the Reactive Sputter Deposition symposium “RSD 2008”, a steadily growing conference essentially focused on reactive sputtering and its fundamental aspects. Both conferences are devoted to the production and use of coatings, from basic research to devices and new applications.

Newcomers as well as experienced researchers will have the possibility to broaden their scope in the ever growing field of coatings and thin films. Without loosing the focus on thin films as such, this 14th edition will also cover new aspects as the interaction biology-coatings and nanoscience-coatings. A more elaborate list of topics can be found on this conference website, along with information on the conference venue which is located in the historical heart of the medieval city of Ghent. The social events, organised during the conference, will allow you to appreciate the historical character of Ghent, a remarkable city combining an imposing past with a lively and vibrant present.

I will be very pleased to welcome you in Ghent in November 2008!

Best regards,

Prof. Em. Dr. ir. R. De Gryse

JVC-12 / EVC-10 / AMDVG-7 triple conference JVC-12 / EVC-10 / AMDVG-7 triple conference

Sept. 22-26, 2008 - Balaton Lake, Hungary

The organizers cordially invite you to the triple conference JVC-12 / EVC-10 / AMDVG-7. An excellent background is guaranteed in a hotel that won the 'Best Four-star Conference Hotel' Award in 2006, and by the attractive and friendly milieu at Lake Balaton.

Scientists, engineers, teachers and students working in any of the vacuum-related fields are invited to attend this conference. You can listen to high quality lectures given by internationally greatly acknowledged scientists and present your oral or poster contribution, and discuss your latest results in a stimulating scientific environment.

JVC-12 (12th Joint Vacuum Conference) is the 12th conference of the vacuum societies of Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia. This series started by the Hungarian-Austrian Vacuum Conference held in Gyõr, Hungary in 1979. Now it is organized biennially in one of the member countries. JVCs traditionally not only offer good opportunity to young people as well as senior scientists but have always an intimate atmosphere, too.

EVC-10 (10th European Vacuum Conference) is the 10th of this series since Prof. J. Colligon set up the first one in Salford in 1988. It is organized also biennially by one of the European Vacuum Societies on behalf of IUVSTA (International Union for Vacuum Science, Technique and Applications).

AMDVG-7 (7th Annual Meeting of the German Vacuum Society - DVG) is the 7th event. The idea of DVG is to foster the cooperation between European Vacuum Societies by transnational conferences, therefore DVG prefers organizing its annual meetings jointly with other societies.
